Two young women tragically lost their lives in a car accident on the Southern State Parkway in Oyster Bay, Long Island, late Sunday night. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. when a speeding driver, impaired by drugs, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree.
The victims were identified as 21-year-old Haily Dsouza and 23-year-old Crystal Alba-Figueroa. They were passengers in a 2016 Dodge Dart being driven by 19-year-old Jaden Dsouza, who was reportedly driving recklessly, weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed. According to state police, the vehicle suddenly veered off the road and struck a tree located on the shoulder of the parkway.
The violent impact of the crash resulted in the immediate death of both women. Haily Dsouza was trapped inside the car, while Crystal Alba-Figueroa was ejected from the vehicle upon impact. Authorities confirmed that both were pronounced dead at the scene.
In addition to the driver, there was a front-seat passenger identified as 23-year-old Anthonie Marte. Following the accident, both Jaden Dsouza and Marte were transported to a local hospital where they were listed in serious condition. Their injuries sustained in the crash are currently described as critical.
