A 27-year-old woman was killed in a single-car accident on the Belt Parkway near 225th Street in Laurelton, Queens, in the early hours of Saturday morning. The crash occurred around 3:50 a.m. when a four-door white Toyota sedan traveling east veered off the roadway and collided with the side of an underpass.
According to officials, when law enforcement arrived at the scene, both the deceased woman and a 30-year-old man had exited the vehicle. Emergency Medical Services transported the woman to Long Island Jewish Hospital-Valley Stream, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Her identity has not been released pending notification of her family.
The 30-year-old male occupant was also taken to North Shore University Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening. His current condition is stable, and he is expected to survive the incident.
As both individuals were out of the vehicle prior to the crash’s investigation, authorities are working to determine who was driving the car at the time of the accident. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear, and police have indicated that the investigation will continue in the coming days.
