Traffic Stop Near LaGuardia Airport Leads to Weapons Charges for Hollis Man

Car accident in Queens

EAST ELMHURST, NY – In a serious breach of public safety, Hollis resident Judd Sanson, 27, has been indicted on a slew of charges including weapon possession and impersonating a police officer. Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz reported that the alarming discoveries were made following a traffic stop in the vicinity of LaGuardia Airport, a sensitive area due to its importance as a transportation hub.

The traffic stop on June 12, which began over a concealed license plate, led to the unveiling of a loaded Glock pistol, numerous magazines teeming with ammunition, police batons inscribed with threatening language, and unauthorized possession of official NYPD and MTA uniforms. Sanson faces a 20-count indictment with charges ranging from criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of ammunition, to the misuse of police attire, and could face a maximum sentence of 15 years imprisonment.

The sheer volume and nature of the items recovered, including 127 rounds of ammunition and nine loaded magazines, suggested a significant threat level, prompting escalated legal actions. District Attorney Katz underscored the severity of Sanson’s actions, citing the critical need to maintain the security of the borough, particularly its airports.
