SUV Collision Results in Six Injuries, Including Police Officer

Car accident in Queens

Six individuals, including an NYPD officer, sustained injuries in a car accident involving a police cruiser and an SUV in Ridgewood, Queens, on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred around 12:20 p.m. on October 6, when a squad car from the 104th Precinct collided with a Toyota Highlander at the intersection of Fresh Pond Road and Woodbine Street.

The impact of the collision caused the SUV to overturn onto its side. Emergency responders arrived swiftly on the scene to provide aid to the victims. The five occupants of the Toyota, which included two adults and three children, were transported to a local hospital. Authorities reported that all occupants are currently in stable condition. One of the injured officers, a female, was also sent to Elmhurst Hospital, where she is reported to be stable as well.

As of now, the police have not disclosed the circumstances leading up to the accident, nor have they determined which party was at fault. The specifics regarding traffic signals at the time of the crash remain unclear, leaving questions about whether any vehicles had the right of way. Notably, a review of the Toyota Highlander’s license plate revealed that the vehicle had accumulated nine speeding tickets since 2021, raising concerns about the driver’s history on the road.
