Surveillance footage captured the harrowing events leading up to the collision. The video revealed a silver Volkswagen hatchback traveling at speed before it struck two people riding a scooter head-on on 57th Avenue. Following the impact, the vehicle then rammed into two parked cars, igniting a fire that required swift intervention from the fire department.
Witnesses described the chaotic scene, with debris from the scooter scattered across the roadway. The crash, which occurred shortly after 8 a.m., left one man dead at the scene, while the other succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.
