Queens Driver Charged After Alleged Discovery of Weapon Arsenal Arrives in Court

Car accident in Queens

QUEENS, N.Y.—In the early hours of Wednesday police stopped a black Ford Explorer for having an obscured license plate on 86th Street and 23rd Avenue in East Elmhurst. The vehicle search led to the discovery of a disturbing array of weapons and prompted serious concerns about public safety.

The driver, identified as 27-year-old Jule Sanson, had his car pulled over around 1:30 a.m. when NYPD officers noticed the concealed car plate. Upon closer inspection, officers observed a knife handle sticking out from a leg holster and proceeded to conduct a thorough search of the vehicle. The officers recovered an alarming quantity of weaponry, including multiple guns, over 170 rounds of ammunition, knives, a machete, a stun gun, handcuffs, and a black whip, among others.

Strikingly, a baton with inscriptions reading “You left me no choice” and additional statements in Arabic was discovered inside Sanson’s Ford Explorer. Expectations for a simple traffic stop took a concerning turn when items such as body armor, an NYPD patch, and an MTA vest were also found, suggesting illicit impersonation of police and transportation authority officials.

Sanson was arrested on the spot and is currently facing charges including criminal possession of a weapon, unauthorized use of a police uniform, and the obstruction of his vehicle’s license plate.
