Four fatalities and two injuries reported in separate crashes in Queens

Car accident in Queens

QUEENS, N.Y. – A series of tragic car accidents in Queens on Sunday resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries, according to police reports. The incidents began in the morning hours, marking a grim start to the day in the borough.

At approximately 8:20 a.m., a Volkswagen traveling westbound on 57th Avenue near 80th Street collided with a moped heading eastbound. The crash was severe, resulting in the deaths of both individuals on the moped. One of the victims, a man believed to be in his 20s or 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene, while his companion, also a man in the same age range, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Following the collision, the driver of the Volkswagen continued westbound, crashing into two unoccupied parked cars before fleeing the scene. The NYPD is actively seeking information regarding the driver and urges anyone with details to come forward.

In a separate incident before 7 a.m., a car overturning on the Grand Central Parkway near Parsons Boulevard resulted in the death of one individual and left two others injured. Police reports indicate that a 22-year-old man, identified as Manuel Torres, was driving a Mercedes sedan eastbound when he crashed into two other eastbound vehicles. Following the impact, the Mercedes overturned and collided with a third vehicle.
