In a tragic road incident on Sunday, a 22-year-old Queens resident lost his life in a multi-vehicle accident on the Grand Central Parkway. Officials reported that the accident occurred near Parsons Blvd. in the Briarwood area, in the early hours of the morning, around 6:45 a.m.
The young man, identified as Manuel Torres of Corona, was traveling eastbound when his vehicle, a Mercedes-Benz sedan, collided with two other cars. The force of the collision was so great that Torres’s car flipped over and hit another vehicle, ultimately coming to a halt in an inverted position.
Authorities arrived at the chaotic scene to find the wreckage and Torres who had unfortunately succumbed to his injuries during the accident. He was pronounced dead at the location of the crash, marking a sorrowful end to what started as a routine Sunday morning.
The Grand Central Parkway was the site of a severe disruption following the incident as investigators took to the scene to discern the sequence of events that led to the fatal collision. While the drivers of the other vehicles involved were present, their conditions and the extent of their injuries, if any, have not been disclosed.
