Pedestrian accidents are a growing concern across the United States, with thousands of individuals experiencing fatalities or severe injuries at the hands of motor vehicles each year. According to statistics from the Centers for Disease Control, nearly 8,000 pedestrians lost their lives in such crashes in 2021, translating to an average of one death every 66 minutes. Additionally, the CDC noted that around 104,000 emergency department visits for non-fatal pedestrian injuries occurred in 2020.

In most cases, pedestrian accidents can be attributed to driver error, with nighttime collisions being particularly common. Drivers often neglect to slow down in conditions of reduced visibility, which significantly increases the risk of accidents.
