Four Rescued After Boat Overturns in Queens, Reports FDNY

Car accident in Queens

In College Point, Queens, a boating incident required emergency response when a vessel overturned in the East River near Hermon A. MacNeil Park on Sunday afternoon, authorities reported.

The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) responded to the emergency after the boat capsized around 1:40 p.m. The NYPD Harbor Unit was also on the scene to assist with the rescue operations.

Rescuers were able to retrieve all four individuals from the waters. They were transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment of injuries that were deemed non-life-threatening, based on the initial reports from the authorities.

While the identities of the individuals involved have not been released, it has been confirmed that there were no fatalities. Details on what caused the boat to capsize are still under investigation, and further information was not available at the time of reporting.

Emergency services and local authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. The safety of recreational boating activities in the area may also be reviewed as a result of this occurrence.

Boating accidents in New York’s waterways are not uncommon, and safety regulations are strictly enforced to prevent such mishaps. The quick response of FDNY and NYPD Harbor Unit likely contributed to the successful rescue of the boaters.
