In Nassau County Court, Michael DeAngelo entered a guilty plea to multiple charges arising from a devastating car crash in East Massapequa which claimed the lives of four individuals.
The tragic incident, involved Lindenhurst resident DeAngelo, who was under the influence of both cocaine and fentanyl at the time of the high-speed crash on Sunrise Highway. This fatal collision resulted in the death of Patrice Huntley, a 60-year-old from Flushing, and his three children, all of whom called Uniondale home.
DeAngelo, aged 33, now faces the possibility of a 21-year prison sentence after admitting guilt to second-degree manslaughter, aggravated vehicular assault, and driving while impaired by drugs. In total, he faced nine counts.
Before the collision on August 6 in Suffolk County, DeAngelo had been arrested on drug-related charges and had nearly overdosed. On the fateful day, he was driving over 100 mph when his vehicle crashed into Huntley and his children at the intersection of Unqua Road and Sunrise Highway around 7:15 p.m.
