The incident took place on Salem Way, where he was engaging in tree-trimming activities. The Nassau County police reported the accident after the man, whose identity is not disclosed, came into contact with a live power line.
The victim was operating a chain saw to cut a branch at a construction site just before 4:15 p.m. when the electrocution occurred. During this dangerous occurrence, a 51-year-old colleague attempted to rescue him but unfortunately sustained injuries in the process.
First respondents pronounced the landscaper dead at the scene. The co-worker who suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the attempted rescue was immediately dispatched to a nearby medical facility. The current condition of the injured worker has not been detailed by officials.
