A tragic accident occurred on Cedar Swamp Road in Brookville, Nassau County, on Thursday evening when a 28-year-old motorcyclist collided with a dump truck, resulting in a fatality. The incident, which took place shortly after 5 p.m., involved the motorcyclist, who was on a 2002 Yamaha, striking a 2000 Hino dump truck as it was making a turn onto Cedar Swamp from Hemlock Drive, as per the statements by the Nassau County police.
Emergency services, including the Jericho Fire Department’s paramedics, responded swiftly to the scene. Despite the prompt medical attention, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the location of the crash. The individual driving the dump truck, a 55-year-old man, did not sustain any injuries from the incident.
The unfortunate event led to an extensive investigation by the police and the closure of Cedar Swamp Road for several hours, affecting traffic between Fruitledge and Apple roads. The road was closed for approximately four hours, from the time of the accident until later in the evening, as authorities conducted their preliminary investigation into the cause and circumstances of the crash.
