In a tragic evening on Meadowbrook State Parkway, a 36-year-old Hempstead man lost his life following a severe car accident. The incident occurred on Tuesday, taking place near Exit M5 for Hempstead Turnpike.
According to state police reports, the deceased, identified as Michael Brown Jr., was driving a Porsche at high speeds heading north. The crash unfolded at approximately 8 p.m., when Brown’s car collided with two vehicles—a Toyota and a Nissan.
The impact of the crash sent Brown’s Porsche careening off the road, where it proceeded to flip and land in a nearby wooded area. State officials have confirmed that he was pronounced dead at the scene. His vehicle’s aggressive travel velocity was noted as a significant factor leading to the fatality.
Occupants of the Toyota, which included the driver and a passenger, sustained injuries. They were promptly transported to a local hospital; fortunately, their injuries were deemed non-life-threatening by medical professionals.
In response to the accident, authorities closed the northbound lanes of Meadowbrook State Parkway to facilitate a detailed investigation of the scene. The effort was spearheaded by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation along with the Collision Reconstruction Unit.
