On Tuesday night, a tragic car accident on the Meadowbrook State Parkway near Hempstead Turnpike resulted in the death of a Hempstead man. Michael Brown Jr., aged 36, lost his life when his Porsche, reportedly speeding northbound, collided with a Toyota and a Nissan before overturning into a wooded area alongside the parkway.
State police have confirmed that the incident occurred around 8 p.m. near Exit M5. Following the high-impact crash, Brown’s vehicle was found flipped in the woods, where he was pronounced dead by the authorities at the scene.
The driver and a passenger from the Toyota sustained injuries that were not life-threatening and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The Nissan driver’s status was not detailed in the report.
As a result of the accident, the northbound lanes of the Meadowbrook State Parkway were shut down for the entire night to facilitate a thorough investigation by the state police’s specialized units including the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Collision Reconstruction Unit.
