A man from Lindenhurst, Michael DeAngelo, aged 33, admitted his guilt in a catastrophic car accident that resulted in the death of four relatives from Uniondale on Wednesday in Nassau County Court, Mineola. The incident, a result of DeAngelo driving under the influence of drugs, occurred on Sunrise Highway in East Massapequa.
DeAngelo is facing a maximum of 21 years in prison for the August 2023 accident after pleading guilty to a total of nine charges, including aggravated vehicular homicide and driving while impaired on drugs. During his court appearance, he confessed to accelerating to over 100 mph and crashing into Patrice Huntley’s vehicle, which was transporting his family to celebrate a new job with ice cream.
Patrice Huntley, 60, was a Marine veteran driving with his children — 13-year-old Hannah, 10-year-old Jeremiah — and his step-granddaughter, 6-year-old Chantel Solomon, to commemorate his recent employment achievement. All four were tragically killed as a result of the collision. Additionally, an 18-year-old daughter and a 14-year-old nephew of Huntley’s, who were in the car as well, sustained injuries but survived.
