A Nassau County pedestrian is fighting for his life after being struck by a vehicle on a busy Long Island thoroughfare. The incident occurred on Sunrise Highway near Harrison Avenue in Baldwin.
The collision took place on Thursday, March 7th. Nassau County Police reported that the accident happened shortly before 9 p.m., when a 70-year-old male pedestrian was crossing Sunrise Highway in a southerly direction near Harrison Avenue. At that moment, he was hit by an eastbound 2013 Nissan.
The victim, whose identity has not been released, sustained severe injuries, including head trauma and bodily harm. Emergency services transported him to a nearby hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
The driver of the Nissan, a 33-year-old woman, remained at the site of the accident and cooperated with the authorities. Nassau County Police have indicated that their investigation into the specifics of the crash is currently active and ongoing.
